Paradise Ready-Made

The project "Paradise Ready-Made (2008)" descripes Moll's visual remixes of imagery of the project "All about Eve and the Big Apple" in context to themes of the project "Bin im Garten - I'm in the Garden".

Gardens are heirs to Paradise, the home to mankind, the orgin and ideal of joyful existence before the advent of sin. They are the setting for social utopia that permits the peaceful coexistence of man, animals and plants to become reality. Gardens are scenes from the Golden Age; they are Arcadia rescued into the present, man’s constant striving and his obviously deep-felt wish to return to Eden.

Surounded by walls, fences or bushes, they exclude everyday struggle and strife, offsetting the rapid passage of time with their own rythmic cycles. The garden is not only a place for gardeners, resting woman, children at play, and for botanists research in their own territory; since time immemorial, the garden has been a place that attracts artist.

The perspective on garden has altered since the Enlightment; becoming an increasingly personal space, it has extended its range of possible expression. Different eras and their different gardens also define different notions of happiness. (Introduction of "The Painter’s Garden" Exhibition 11/24/06- 3/11/07 Städel Museum Frankfurt/ Main, Germany).

The project "I'm in the Garden (2006/2007)" is about the private garden of Eva Moll's mother Doris Moll (*02/1947 - +01/2006) located in Dietzenbach. Origin of the project is the functional ceramic sign of the Doris Moll estate with the inscription: "Bin im Garten (I'm in the Garden)". After her passing the simple note "I'm in the Garden" became a message and hope for her return to Eden. The theme is highly personal and at the same time holds multiple aspects to life and dead, human identity, beauty created by man and nature, seasons representing the circle of life, conceptions of Gardens and terms of Paradise in today's society. Works are put in context to the exhibition space and public interest, dialog and communication. Part of the project are guided tours performed by the artist.

In this body of works Moll incorperates visual remixes of her works of the 90's (visual vocabulary: linear drawings of floral ornaments and organic structures), selected ready-made objects and imagery of her mother's garden, as well as matching research material of the painter's garden in art history (picture language of "Impressionism and Expressionism" and neoclassical imagery).

The project "All about Eve and the Big Apple (2007/2008)" is based on Moll's visual diary project "Eva in the Big Apple (1998-2000)" and the "New York City Series (2000-now)" of paintings and drawings mostly incorperating the artist's "Alter Ego" and ever present Art Figure "Eve". Moll had the idea for this project during the project "Apples and Tipis" in February 2007 in New York. Its realisation started as a fotography project at Rainbow Land in Tulsa Oklahoma in March 2007. Rainbow Girl - bodypainted by Moll - posed as "Eve" in front of Moll's large scale New York City painting. The session was photographed by Zane Yost. In September 2007 she was bodypainted again by Moll in front of an audience in a life-performance setting in a gallery space in Offenbach Germany. The Super-Hero "Eve" then performed a dance in front of Moll's large scale New York Cityscape capturing the struggels and strifes of life. In June and July 2008 a new video edit was exhibited in Planet Vivid Gallery in Frankfurt.

Photography by Zane Yost, Performance Stills and Video of the Art Figure "Eve" represented by Rainbow Girl and Moll's works on canvas and paper to date, are source for the visual remixes in Moll's new paintings, video edits, collages and space strategies.
